The Innovation and Science Summer Camp - Architecture & Design Course is for junior and high school students (16-20 years old) will be held 19th - 22nd August 2018 at Achimota Secondary School.

The annual Innovation and Science Summer Camp, designed to underscore the importance of Innovation, Science, and Technology, will host up to 50 students from regions throughout Ghana. Students will be selected based on their desire to use out-of-the-box thinking to generate new values that will bring about significant changes in society.

During the 4 day residential camp at the Achimota Secondary School, students will receive classroom and field instruction from accredited International English-speaking University lectures and instructors from Norway, UK, Brussels and Ghana with projects designed to enhance their skills and knowledge in a wide variety of programs for examples in coding by designing and constructing their own fun game and program.

The camp will also help students shape and build their innovative skills as they work in teams to develop creative and scientific projects that will be evaluated by instructors during the camp’s final session. The camp will also focus on empowerment as students create and evaluate scientific and technological responses to solve problems.

The basic requirements for this programme are:

• Age between 16-20 years
• Have completed at least 1 science course
• Current student at “junior high”, "pre-university" or "Senior high school" level.
• Interest in innovation, studying Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics at university level

Tuition is $269 and includes 3 nights’ lodging in Achimota Secondary School, 3 x meals a day, special events, unlimited Wi-Fi, books and materials. Participants should come with their own laptops.

Summer Architecture & Design Course 16-20 yrs:

The Summer Architecture and Design Programme will introduce aspiring architects to key concepts and theories, whilst at the same time providing an insight into what future study or a career in architecture will entail. This summer course is three days in duration and takes place on Achimota Secondary School Campus a leading STEM educational school close the University of Ghana at Legon with its fascinating architecture style in the city of Accra in Ghana.

On iNNO-SCI Summer Architecture and Design Programme students will learn the principles of design, mapping, spatial planning and analysis essential to portfolio development. They will also be introduced to the basic concepts of construction and engineering that will underpin their future careers in and studies of architecture.

Why choose the Summer Architecture and Design Course for 16-20 years?

Students receive more than 20 hours of teaching per week, in classes of no more than 15. Lessons on architectural theory combine with skills-based workshops to allow students to learn about all aspects of architecture and design and gain an impression of the undergraduate study of this fascinating subject.

Students will learn vital and invaluable skills for the modern workplace, which they will be able to use long after they leave the summer school. Through a variety of homework tasks, presentations and focus problems, students will develop their skills of communication (both written and verbal), design thinking, problem solving and analytical thought. The course will include a seminar on the latest Scandinavian innovations in modern architecture and design.
